Must Have Christmas Toys Of Christmas Past

Childhood memories of Christmas morning are filled with remembrances of storming down the stairs to find out what Christmas gifts and toys had been left under the tree. Every year, there were a few select Christmas toys that had made their way up the top of just about every kid's list of must have Christmas toys. As adults, it can even be a bit embarrassing to remember how much we fretted over getting our hands on these must have Christmas toys and how we simply had to have them on Christmas morning.

Take a trip down Christmas morning memory lane and take a look at this collection of must have Christmas toys from the past. If you were a child of the 1980's or 1990's you are going to find at least one toy from your past that you thought was a must have Christmas toy.

He-Man Christmas Toys

By the power of Grayskull! There was a time when He-Man and the Masters of the Universe toys were the must have Christmas toys. Thanks to the He-Man cartoon show which aired daily throughout the country, there weren't many kids in the 1980's that didn't have at least one He-Man toy on their Christmas list.

There were so many He-Man characters on the He-Man cartoon and each and every one of them was then put out into toy form. So, there was no way that any kid into He-Man was going to run out of must have Christmas toys from the Masters of the Universe.

Sometimes, the minor He-Man characters even got their own commercials. Check out this 1980's commercial for the Ram Man character from He-Man. Now, that is retro stuff!

It wasn't just the boys that had He-Man down as a must have Christmas toy in the 1980's. There were tons of girls that had a He-Man or Skeletor doll or even a lunch box. If He-Man toys were a bit too boyish for them, then they could always put He-Man's sister She-Ra on their list of must have Christmas toys.

Cabbage Patch Kids Christmas Toys

It may be hard for kids today to imagine, but there was a time when Cabbage Patch Kids dolls were such must have Christmas toys that grown men and women actually trampled each other (a few times to death) for a chance to buy one. At the height of the Cabbage Patch Kids craze, no girl's Christmas list was complete without having a Cabbage Patch Doll right at the top of the list. The parents couldn't face the chance of having to explain to their child why they were the only kid on the block that didn't get a Cabbage Patch Kids doll for Christmas.

Soon, there couldn't have been many homes in the United States with kids where there wasn't at least one Cabbage Patch Kid residing. Over the years of the Cabbage Patch Kids craze, most had more than one and whenever you thought you had enough Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, the company would come out with a new twist to make them must have Christmas toys for yet another year.

Check out this Cabbage Patch Kid commercial showing all the new types of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls that would be available for Christmas that year. Some, even have a first tooth! ha.

There were Cabbage Patch twins, talking Cabbage Patch dolls, preemies and just about every other form of Cabbage Patch Kids doll you can image. It didn't just stop with the dolls though. There was Cabbage Patch Kid cereal, vitamins, a cartoon (everything was a cartoon in the 80's), video games, lunch boxes and so much more.
